Fields of Gold

How beautiful is this farm-fresh trash the dress photo shoot by Anna Jones! I love how soft the wild flowers and hay make the pictures! Have I mentioned that Anna will be contributing her 2012 wedding photography to Satin & Snowflakes? I couldn’t me more excited! Here’s what Anna has to say about this shoot:

I was thrilled when Lynn contacted me to do a trash the dress session with her and these photos show exactly why.  Not only is Lynn stunning and photogenic but she just rocked the trash the dress session!  Lynn drove around with me in my car as I search Carp for sites of inspiration – she battled the heat and mosquitoes like a pro and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the end result of this session!

My First Ever Photo Shoot: A Cold Morning at Rockcliffe Park

When I told my best friend, Vicki, that I was interested in putting together a photo shoot for Satin & Snowflakes, she immediately volunteered to be my muse. Her and I debated over a bottle of wine (or two) about location, theme, props, and what time of day… I was hoping for a foggy morning with a bright warm sunrise, so we agreed that I’d pick her up at 6:00am and we’d be on location and shooting by 7:00am. We were crazy.

The morning was cold and damp, there was no fog, and it was so cloudy that we couldn’t see the sun rise at all. Yet the photos turned out incredibly clear, bright, and soft considering how dark and dreary it was outside. The backdrop to our lovely photo session was the Rockcliffe Park Pavilion, and old stone  covered platform overlooking the Rideau River that is frequently used to host outdoor wedding ceremonies. At 7:00am on a cold, rainy morning, it was completely deserted and perfect! We brought her dog, Bowser, and had a lot of fun. Poor Vicki was chilled to the bone, but she was such a good sport about it. Her only concern was that she didn’t want her goosebumps showing! Over-all, the photo shoot was a HUGE success. We wanted something visually stimulating and the contrast between the bright colours from the balloons, the stone from the pavilion, and the softness of her dress made for some great shots.

Thank you for being a perfect model, Vicki. You are so beautiful. Hopefully there’s a picture in here that you can bring with you to your new home in Calgary with Mark! Congratulations!

Winter Bride

Satin & Snowflakes has been so anxious to feature Spring weddings considering how balmy this year’s winter season has been here in Ottawa, but perhaps we need to slow down and enjoy the beauty of winter (considering that the city has been buried under snow this week, winter is hard to miss at the moment).

This is one of 29 pictures featured on Anne-Marie Bouchard of AMBphoto’s “Snowy Bride” photo shoot, inspired by “crisp winter days and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe“. Photography by AMBphoto, gown by Rivini, provided by Ashton Bridal Station, bouquet by Bloomfields.
